NMLL is very excited to announce that the first ten NMLL Volunteer English Tutors have just graduated!

The NMLL pilot One to One English tutoring program aims to support members of the local community interested in improving their English practise for everyday living.

Over the next 6 months Volunteer Tutors will be intensively working with ten Learners, one to one, from eight different cultural backgrounds.  The tutoring sessions are organised around themes to increase their confidence around everyday living activities, including: money; housing; education; employment; health; transport; and increasing confidence in talking and socialising with others.

Small amounts of seed funding was provided by the Victorian Multicultural Commission.  The project has also been supported by NMLL through the Community Development Program.

A very special thank you goes to our volunteer Project Officer – Kashka Lantis – who has spent 6 months working with the NMLL Community Development Worker to set-up the program.
