A successful Community Learning Festival 2014


On Saturday May 17 NMLL hosted the Community Learning Festival at 33 Alfred Street.  There were about 300 people from the local area that enjoyed the festivities.  There were:

  • Information stalls from local services including the YMCA, Inner Melbourne Legal, HIPPY, City of Melbourne Library Services, North Melbourne Language and Learning, Metropolitan Fire Brigade and Victoria Police
  • Children’s activities, including a petting zoo, arts and craft tent, soccer clinics, fire truck, police car, the children got to try on fire fighting uniforms and police uniforms
  • Adult and all ages activities including henna painting, carpentry demonstration from the Urban Bush Carpenters, cooking demonstrations, diabetes education sessions, computer and english sessions, legal information sessions, first aid information, Afrobeat drumming sessions
  • Plenty of food enjoyed by all
  • There were Community Learning Champions and volunteers from IMPRINT roaming around conducting consultations with local community members regarding their learning needs
  • There were prize giveaways kindly donated by Officeworks, Masters Hardware, Bunnings Warehouse, Cultivating Communities, Bendigo Bank, and North Melbourne Football Club
